TTU-CPA welcomes Baguio’s first IPMR

img_0016Baguio City—Tongtongan Ti Umili- Cordillera Peoples Alliance (TTU-CPA) welcomes the selection of Mr. Roger Sinot as the first Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) in the Baguio City Council last November 4. He needs to submit all the necessary requirements needed by the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples before being formalized as a member of the city council.

“We welcome the selection of Baguio city’s first IPMR and hope that he will truly represent the interests of the Ibalois and all the indigenous peoples in the city.”

TTU-CPA expressed that it is important that indigenous peoples and their interests are well-represented in the local government since they comprise the majority of the city’s population.

“As the first IPMR of the city, we are hoping that Mr. Sinot will be most willing to listen to the various issues faced by indigenous peoples in the city. We challenge him to actively bring these into the city council and truly represent the indigenous peoples” ended Dumalo.
